Dr. Shawna Kuntz earned her degree of Doctor of Optometry from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry in 2004 after completing her undergraduate work at the University of California, Davis.
Having grown up with an optometrist father, Dr. Kuntz understood early on what a wonderful and unique profession optometry was and still is. She loves taking care of her patients and thoroughly enjoys making a personal connection with them.
She enjoys the camaraderie of a group practice and appreciates the satisfaction and challenges that come with private practice.
Dr. Kuntz has been an active member in her hometown community of Livermore; she has coached soccer, led Girl Scout troops, and was a board member of the parent-teacher organization at her girls' school. She and her husband, Josh, have two daughters, Maya and Katie Mae. They enjoy traveling, bike riding, camping, baking, and playing volleyball together. Combining her hobby of traveling with the joy of her profession, Dr. Kuntz has participated in Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, giving free eye examinations to the needy outside the United States.
Additional professional associations include Clinical Instructor at UC Berkeley, School of Optometry, and is a member of the Alameda Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society, the California Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. Her special interest within optometry is children’s vision.
