Children’s Vision Exams & Developmental Eye Screenings

Children’s vision needs change quickly as they grow, which is why regular eye exams are an essential part of their overall health. We provide gentle, age-appropriate care for infants, children, and teens — always in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

Whether your child is preparing for school, struggling with focus, or simply due for a routine check, we’re here to support their vision at every stage.

Why Children’s Eye Exams Matter

Kids rely on their vision to explore, learn, and develop. But because children rarely realize when something feels “off,” vision issues can go undetected without a proper screening. Routine pediatric eye exams help us catch concerns early, like nearsightedness (myopia), eye misalignment, or focusing difficulties so we can step in before they affect learning or daily life.

Our eye doctors use techniques tailored to children’s comfort levels, explaining each step in a way that helps them feel at ease. These visits are simple, low-pressure, and often surprisingly fun.

What to Expect at Your Eye Exam

Vision care isn’t one-size-fits-all, especially for kids. Heres how we tailor exams based on your child’s age and development:

Infants (6–12 months): We offer first-year eye assessments to catch early visual conditions and establish a healthy baseline.

Toddlers & Preschoolers: We assess visual acuity, depth perception, and how their eyes work together—using kid-friendly equipment and plenty of patience.

School-aged Children & Teens: We check for refractive issues (like myopia), eye strain from screen use, and early signs of eye conditions that may affect academic performance or daily comfort.

We’ll also discuss any concerns you or your child may have and go over your options clearly, whether that’s a first pair of glasses or next steps for care.

Support for Growing Eyes & Minds

As children grow, their eyes change; sometimes, that means stepping in with some extra help. If your child shows signs of nearsightedness, we may recommend a myopia management plan using options like MiSight® contact lenses or ortho-k.

We also evaluate for conditions like:

  • Lazy eye (amblyopia)
  • Crossed or misaligned eyes (strabismus)
  • Tracking or visual processing difficulties

Our team works closely with families to explain these conditions in simple terms, explore treatment options, and support healthy vision development.
